This page presents both a user research project and how these learnings have enabled me to teach others to conduct user research.

Between Seniors and VET

In a project investigating the relationship between seniors and voice-enabled technologies (VETs), I applied qualitative methods to understand how these technologies impact seniors’ self-perception. By conducting interviews, observations, and diary tasks with three seniors, we uncovered unique insights into how they interact with VETs.

Our findings revealed three key personas:
–The Ingenious Senior,
–The Gadget Grandparent
–The Independent Dependent Senior
showcasing the diverse ways seniors engage with technology.

This research emphasized the complexity of user interactions, challenging assumptions about technology’s role in eldercare, and highlighting the value of qualitative methods in uncovering these nuanced perspectives.

Currently, we are working on getting the article published.

Guiding Master’s Students in User Research Methodologies

Additionally, as a teaching assistant for the “Users in Context” course, I guided 100+ students through hands-on research methods, such as interviews and observations, while emphasizing the importance of understanding users in real-world contexts. This role allowed me to foster an interactive, engaging learning environment, while reinforcing my own skills in qualitative research and user empathy.
